Beyond research & education
Several teams keep the department running, inclusive, and forward-looking.
Besides the secretariat, education support and IT, we have two research supporting offices. The project management team works with researchers to coordinate the implementation of EU-funded projects by effective monitoring progress and compliance with procedures. The project managers ensure timely reporting to the European Commission and maintain communication with consortium partners. The Research Support Office for Data & Quality provides advice on legislation and regulations concerning research protocols, data collections, and publications. In addition, the Research Support Office provides hands-on support in drawing up the research administration and working with the various research applications and management systems.
Our Junior Research Committee (JRC) formally represents PhD candidates and helps us continuously improve supervision and training.
We have social committee that organizes formal and informal social events and celebrations. They organize celebrations around international holidays, like Chinese New Year and Eid al-Fitr, thus not only around traditional Dutch ones.
We have a green team that organizes formal and informal activities to promote sustainability and gives policy advice on potential improvements regarding sustainability.
Through our D&I team, we aim to strengthen our organization and contribute to a more inclusive department by working to embed inclusion, diversity and equity into our policies, projects, and daily practices.
As of 2025, MGZ already deploys several research activities in the field of Planetary Health, most of which focus on the impact of the environment on human health.
